Grandparents

September 2005, Lee, Jonathan and I went to visit my grandparents in Honea Path, SC. We stayed a week with them. We had a grand time and I was so glad to introduce my first born son to them. But I knew it would be the last time I saw my grandmother. She passed away November 2005 and has been with Jesus for over 3 years now. I miss her.

She was upset that she forgot to put her bridge in that morning.

I think I have pretty cool grandparents and I enjoyed them when they were young as I was the oldest grandchild. I got to travel with them. I got to bug my uncle who is only 5 years older than me. As I matured, though, they became a lot more cool! I didn't ask about their lives though, but every time I see my grandpa I ask him to tell me something else about himself. He's quite an interesting guy.

Awww, that is so sweet Mary. I am glad you have such wonderful memories. The only grandparent I have left is my dad's stepmom. She is currently battling cancer. Each moment I have with her is a treasure.

Just want you to know that I think they are two of the greatest people in the world. Your grandmother was an own cousin of my Dad-- my first memory of her is one cold day when I was very small-it must have been hunting season. She and Maude came through the porch door at our house, giggling, dressed in hunting clothes and carrying guns-- they were so much fun and just delighted me. I have loved both of them every since.
When Don and Mable moved to Gold before Trina was born, (your mother was just a baby) I soon began baby sitting for them. Mable turned an old house that had been all but wrecked while occupied by migrant workers into a pretty and comfortable home. Her ability to make anything look pretty always amazed me. Her only cupboards for a while, probably a few years, were orange crated nailed to the wall --- but they were covered with bright red ruffly curtains. Who cared if they were orange crates??
Thanks for triggering some warm memories--- Jeannette Buck

Sweet memories of my parents. I miss my mother, but have enjoyed getting to know my dad better.

Oh, Mary! What a pleasant surprise to click on your blog today and see a picture of Mr. and Mrs. Perry! What memories I have of them. Too many to go into here - but I'm sure you can think of many that I have that you and I shared at their house. :)
Your grandmother may never know, but my mom talks often about what a huge godly influence she was on her and her mothering. She taught my mom a lot of things during those years on Bennet Street.
And did you know I was saved at one of her Bible Clubs?
Bridge or no bridge, the smile in her eyes shows through just as brilliantly as it did those many years ago.
Please tell your Grandpa hello from us.
Thanks for bringing back sweet memories!

I've always hoped to have bonded with my grandparents. They passed away long before I was born, and I missed the chance of getting to know them at all.. Now I treasure every moment I have with my grandma (my mom's side)and I hug her everytime I see her. Treasure the loved ones while you still have them.
