A Prison Diary by Jeffrey Archer
Titles A-Z Challenge

My cousin, Christy, recommend this book to me.

On July 19, 2001, Jeffrey Archer was convicted of perjury and is sentence to four years in Prison. He spent his first three weeks in the notorious HMP Belmarsh, a high-security prison in South London. This prison housed murderers, terrorists and violent criminals.

You may wonder why would someone convicted of perjury be house among murderers, terrorists and violent criminals. Most of these prisoners have life sentences, therefore they are more likely to be civil in comparison to those that have short sentences of 1-2 years. Archer decided to use his time by keeping an hour by hour diary of these three weeks. Some of the prisoners came to trust Archer with their stories and allowed him to include them in his book. He was respected among the prisoners, guards and those in authority.

I found this book quite interesting as the day in the life of Archer and many of his prison mates are spelled out for all the world to see.

This sounds intriguing. I had no idea Jeffrey Archer spent time in prison. I think I might have to check this out. Thanks for the review :)
